COSSINGTON, a parish in the hundred of WHITLEY, county of SOMERSET, 4 miles (N. E. byE.) from Bridg-water, containing 268 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Wells, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £13. 10., and in the patronage of the Rev. T. Hobbs. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The village is one of the neatest in the county, the cottages being fitted up in a tasteful style, and the gardens ornamentally laid out.
