COVE (SOUTH), a parish in the hundred of ELYTHING,
county of SUFFOLK, 3 miles (N.) from Southwold,
containing 186 inhabitants. The living is a discharged
rectory, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and
diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at
£6. 2. 11., endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in
the patronage of Sir T. S. Gooch, Bart. The church
is dedicated to St. Lawrence.
