COWLEY, a parish in the hundred of ELTHORNE, county of MIDDLESEX, lmile (S. byB.) from Uxbridge, containing 349 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Middlesex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £11, and in the patronage of E. Hilliard, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Lawrence. Barnard Dognall, in 1761, beq\ieathed four acres of land, producing £ 10 per annum, for the parish clerk, on condition of his keeping the church free from dust, and the churchyard from weeds and other annoyances.
