CROFT, a parish in the hundred of SPARKENHOE, county of LEICESTER, 6 miles (E. by N.) from Hinckley, containing 297 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £12.3.4., and in the patronage of the Rev. Robert Thomas Adnutt. The village is situated on a granite rock rising from the edge of a brook which falls into the Soar, and continuing in a ridge northward, until it terminates in a remarkable conical hill that is. conspicuous for many miles round.
