DALBY (MAGNA), a parish in the eastern division of the hundred of GOSCOTE, county of LEICESTER, 3 miles (S. by W.) from Meltqn-Mowbray, containing 402 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £8. 4. 7., and endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Sir Francis Burdett, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. Swithin.
