DUDDO, a township in the parish of NORHAM,
otherwise Norhamshire, county palatine of DURHAM,
though situated to the northward of the county of Northumberland,
13 miles (N.N.W.) from Wooler, containing
285 inhabitants. On the summit of Grindon Rigg are
the remains of Duddo tower, and near it six rude stones,
set up in commemoration of the victory gained by the
English over the Scots, in 1558.
