EACHWICK, a township in the parish of HEDDON-on-the-WALL, partly in the western division of CASTLE ward, but chiefly in the eastern division of TINDALE ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND, 10 miles (N.W. by W.) from Newcastle upon Tyne, containing 169 inhabitants. This was anciently a place of considerable importance. In making a road through an old intrench- ment near the village, several hand mill-stones, a sacrificing knife, and a flint axe, were discovered.
