EASTWOOD, a parish in the southern division of the wapentake of BROXTOW, county of NOTTINGHAM, 9 miles (N.W. by W.) from Nottingham, containing 1206 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £4 13. 1. J. Plumptre, Esq. was patron in 1819. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Here are extensive coal-works. The Nottingham canal crosses the parish, and another runs parallel with it to-the extent of about one mile and a half, communicating with the river that bounds this county on the Derbyshire side.
