EATON, a township in the parish of ECCLESTON,
lower division of the hundred of BROXTON, county
palatine of CHESTER, 3 miles (S.) from Chester,
containing 66 inhabitants. It is situated on the river,
Dee, near which stands Eaton Abbey., the princely residence
of Earl Grosvenor, which within, the last eight
years has been considerably enlarged and beautified.
