EDENBRIDGE, a parish in the hundred of WESTERHAM, lathe of SUTTON at HONE, county of KENT, 5 miles (S.) from Westerham, containing 1454 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, annexed to the perpetual curacy of Westerham, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Rochester. The church, dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul, has a tower surmounted by a spire at the west end; in it are the remains of a rood loft, in which was formerly placed the image of our Saviour's Crucifixion, and the windows exhibit some interesting specimens of painted glass. There are fairs for cattle and toys on May 6th and October 16th. The river Eden, tributary to the Medway, passes through the parish and is here crossed by a bridge, which in the text is called Eddelnt'sbrege.
