ELLOUGHTON, a parish partly within the liberty of ST-PETER-OF-YORK, but chiefly in the Hunsley-Beacon division of the wapentake of HARTHILL, East riding of the county of YORK, 2 miles (S.E, by S.) from South Cave, containing, with Brough, 383 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, rated in the king's books at £5. 0. 5., and in the patronage of the Prebendary of Wetwang in the Cathedral Church of York. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is a very ancient structure. There are places of worship for Calvinists and Wesleyan Methodists.
