ELMLEY-LOVETT, a parish in the lower division Of the hundred of HALFSHIRE, county of WORCESTER, 4 miles (E. by S.) from Stourport, containing 447 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Worcester, rated in the king's books at £17. 2. 6., and in the patronage of John Lynes, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. There are two schools, endowed with part of the profits of an estate bequeathed, at a very early period, by an individual now unknown, for the benefit of the church and the poor of the parish. This place gives the title of viscount to the Lygon family.
