ELTON, a chapelry in that part of the parish of YOULGRAVE which is in the hundred of WIRKSWORTH, county of DERBY, Ij mile (W.) from Winster, containing 548 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Derby, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, endowed with £200 private benefaction, £200 royal bounty, and £ 200 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Inhabitants. The chapel is dedicated to All Saints. This chapelry is in the honour of Tutbury, duchy of Lancaster, and within the jurisdiction of a court of pleas held at Tutbury every third Tuesday, for the recovery of debts under 40s.
