EMLEY, a parish in the lower division of the wapentake of AGBRIGG, West riding of the county of YORK, 7 5 miles (E. S. E.) from Huddersfield, containing, with a portion of the township of Skelmanthorpe, 1351 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £14. 0. 7| ) and in the patronage of the Hon. and Rev. Lumley Savile. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. There is a trifling endowment for the education of children.
