ESKDALE, a chapelry, joint with Wasdale, in that part of the parish of ST-BEES which is in ALLERDALE ward above Darwent, county of CUMBERLAND, 7 miles (N. E. by E.) from Ravenglass, containing, with the township of Wasdale-head,. 296. inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Richmond, and diocese of Chester, endowed with £400 private benefaction, and £800 royal bounty. G. E. Stanley, Esq. was patron in 1814. The chapel is dedicated to St. Catherine. There is a small sum for the education of children.
