ETALL, a township in the parish of FORD, western
division of GLENDALE ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND,
10 miles (N.N.W.) from Wooler. The population
is returned with the parish. A castle was built at
this place in the 1st of Edward I., by Sir Robert Manners,
which James IV., before the battle of Flodden,
captured and destroyed.
