EWART, a township in the parish of DODDINGTON, eastern division of GLENDALE ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND, 5 miles (N.N.TV.) from Wooler,- containing 150 inhabitants. There is a small endowment for the education of children. This place is pleasantly situated between the rivers Till and Glen, where it is supposed there was fonnerly a church and a burial-ground. In 1814, two ancient bronze sword blades were found in the park.
