EWHURST, a parish in the second division of the hundred of BLACKHEATH, county of SURREY, 9 miles (W. byN.) from Godalming, containing 821 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Surrey; and diocese of Winchester, rated in the king's books at £ 12. 7. 3., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church, dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul, is chiefly in the early English style. On a common, called the Churt, or East Churt, is a large camp called Holmbury, supposed to be of Roman construction.
