FARNHAM, a parish partly in the hundred of CHALK,
county of WILTS, but chiefly in that part of the hundred
of CRANBORNE which is in the Shaston (West) division
of the county of DORSET, 8 miles (W. by N.) from Cranborne,
containing, with the tything of Farnham-Tollard,
283 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in
the archdeaconry of Dorset, and diocese of Bristol,
rated in the king's books at £7 10., and in the patronage
of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Lawrence.
There is a fair for cheese on the 21st of August.
