FARRINGTON, a township in the parish of PENWORTHAM,
hundred of LEYLAND, county palatine of
LANCASTER, 4 miles (S.) from Preston, containing 513
inhabitants. A school-room was erected by subscription
in 1812, towards the support of which £30 is annually
paid from the funds of Penwortham free school; one
hundred boys and girls are educated at a trifling charge.
