FAWLEY, a parish partly in the hundred of REDBRIDGE, comprising the tythings of Brightminstone and Stone, but chiefly in that part of the hundred of BISHOPS-WALTHAM which is in the New Forest (East) division of the county of SOUTHAMPTON, 6 miles (S. S. E.) from Southampton, containing 1684 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the incumbent, rated in the king's books at £,34. 13. 6,, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Winchester. The church is dedicated to All Saints; in the windows are some curious specimens of painted glass. At Exbury, in this parish, is1 a chapel of ease. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The parish is bounded on the east by the Southampton water.
