FELLSIDE, a township in the parish of WHICRHAM,
western division of CHESTER ward, county palatine
of DURHAM, 5 miles (S. W.) from Newcastle, containing
455 inhabitants. The late Earl of Strathmore,
in 1812, erected a handsome chapel in the grounds of
Gibside hall, one of the seats of the family.
