FELPHAM, a parish in the hundred of AVISFORD, rape of ARUNDEL, county of SUSSEX, 8 miles (S.W.) from Arundel, containing 581 inhabitants. The living comprises a rectory and a discharged vicarage, the former a sinecure, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chichester, rated together in the king's books at £29. 6. 8., and in the patronage of the Dean of Chichester. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The parish is situated on the shore of the English channel, and the lands are occasionally subject to inundations from the sea.
