FINEDON, otherwise THINGDON, a parish in. the hundred of HUXLOE, county of NORTHAMPTON, 85 miles (N. E. by N.) from Wellingborough, containin 1159 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £10. 17. 1. Sir E. Dolben, Bart, was patron in 1810. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, is a large and handsome edifice, mostly in the decorated style; the tower, battlements, and spire, are fine specimens of later English architecture: the font is a large cubical mass of stone, with the angles sloped off, so as to make the plan of the upper face octagonal. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
