FLOOKBOROUGH, a chapelry in the parish of CARTMELL, hundred of LONSDALE, north of the sands, county palatine of LANCASTER, 5 miles (E. S. E.) from Ulverstone. The population is returned with the parish. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Richmond, and diocese of Chester, endowed with £400 private benefaction, and £400 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Lord G. Cavendish. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. This place, now a small village, was formerly a market-town.
