FOXHOLES, a parish in the wapentake of DICKERING, East riding of the county of YORK, comprising the chapelry of Butterwick, and the township of Foxholes with Boythorp, and containing 262 inhabitants, of which number, 169 are in the township of Foxholes with Boythorp, 10 miles (N.byW.) from Great Driffield. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of the East riding, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £22. D. Sykes, Esq. was patron in 1815. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
