GARRIGILL, a chapelry in the parish of ALDSTONE, LEATH ward, county of CUMBERLAND, 3 miles (B. S.E.) from Aldstone Moor, containing 1288 inhabitants. The Independents and Primitive and Wesleyan Methodists have each a place of worship. Mines belonging to the London Lead Company afford employment to many of the inhabitants. Fairs for cattle and sheep are held on tiie third Friday in May, and the first Friday in September.
