GEDLING, a parish hi the southern division of the wapentake of THURGARTON, county of NOTTINGHAM, 85 miles (N. E. by E.) from Nottingham, containing, with the township of Stoke-Bardolph, and the hamlet of Charlton, 2017 inhabitants. The living comprises a rectory and a vicarage, in medieties, the former rated in the king's books at £ 14. 6. 0., and the latter at £6. 16. 8., in the archdeaconry of Nottingham, and diocese of York, and in the patronage of the Earl of Chesterfield. The church is dedicated to All Saints.
