GORING, a parish in the hundred of POLING, rape
of ARUNDEL, county of SUSSEX, 2 miles (W.) from
Worthing, containing 476 inhabitants. The living is a
discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of
Chichester, rated in the king's books at £7. 10. W.W.
Richardson, Esq. was patron in 1812. The church,
dedicated to St. Mary, is in the early style of English
architecture.
