GREENFIELD, a hamlet in the parish of ABY,
Marsh division of the hundred of CALCEWORTH, parts
of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 3 miles (N. W.) from
Alford. The population is returned with the parish.
A priory was founded, before 1153, by Eudo de Greines
and Ralph his son, for nuns of the Cistercian order,
in honour of St. Mary, the revenue of which at the dissolution
was valued at £79. 15. 1.
