HAMSEY, a parish in the hundred of BARCOMB, rape of LEWES, county of SUSSEX, 2 miles (N.) from Lewes, containing 53? inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Lewes, and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £16. 12. 8., and in the patronage of Sir B. W. Bridges, Bart. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, is partly of early English architecture, with portions in the later style.
