HARDWICKE, a parish in the hundred of COTTESLOE, county of BUCKINGHAM, 3 miles (N. by W.) from Aylesbury, containing, with the hamlet of Weedon, 627 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in thiking's books at £39. 9 7, and in the patronage of the Warden and Fellows of New College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St.Mary. John Bridle, D. D., in 17HI, founded a charity school and endowed it with land:-, the proceeds of which are applied to the instruction of eighteen boys and twelve girls.
