HARLAXTON, a parish in the soke of GRANTHAM, parts of KESTEVEN, county of LINCOLN, 3 miles (S. W.) from Grantham, containing 389 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £25. 6. 10., and in the alternate patronage of the Prebendaries of North and South Grantham. in the Cathedral Church of Salisbury. The church is dedicated to St. Mary and St. Peter; its tower is surmounted by a spire, and the chancel is separated from the nave by a carved wooden screen. The Nottingham and Grantham canal passes through the parish.
