HARPLEY, a parish in the Lynn division of the
hundred of FREEBRIDGE, county of NORFOLK, 8 miles
(E. by N.) from Castle-Rising, containing 359 inhabitants.
The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and
diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £22.
A. Hamond, Esq. was patron in 1786. The church is
dedicated to St. Lawrence: the windows exhibit some
fragments of stained glass, of which the insignia of
that saint, viz., a gridiron, Or, is the most conspicuous.
