HEDSOR, a parish in the hundred of DESBOROUGH, county of BUCKINGHAM, 4 miles (E. by S.) from Great Marlow, containing, with the hamlet of Lilliffee, 188 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese of Lincoln rated in the king's books at £4, endowed with £200 royal bounty, and £200 parliamentary grant. Lord Boston was patron in 1814. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas. In the church-yard are interred the remains of Nathaniel Hooke, author of the Roman History, who died in 1763; to whose memory a tablet was erected at the expense of Lord Boston.
