HELLINGLY, a parish in the hundred of DILL, rape of PEVENSEY, county of SUSSEX, 2 miles (N.by W.) from Haylsham, containing 1313 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Lewes, and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £6. 16. 8., and in the patronage of the Earl of Chichester. The church, dedicated to St. Peter and St. Paul, is in the early style of English architecture. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
