HELMDON, a parish in the hundred of KINGS-SUTTON, county of NORTHAMPTON, 6 miles (N.) from Brackley, containing 486 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £13. 11. 0., and in the patronage of the President and Fellows of Corpus Christi College, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Mary Magdalene. In 1723, the Rev. - Jones gave £20 towards the establishment and maintenance of a school, which is now supported by voluntary contributions. A court leet is held here by the crown, for the duchy of Lancaster.
