HEMPTON, a parish in the hundred of GALLOW, county of NORFOLK, 1 mile (S.W.) from Fakenham, containing 299 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church,, which was dedicated to St. Andrew, has fallen to decay. Between this place and Fakenham was a priory of canons of the order of St. Augustine, the revenue of which, at the dissolution, was valued at £39. 0. 9.
