HIMLEY, a parish in the northern division of the hundred of SEISDON, county of STAFFORD, 3 miles (W.) from Dudley, containing 379 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Stafford, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £3. 13. 4. The Earl of Dudley was patron in 1799. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. Courts leet and baron are held annually; there is also a copyhold court. Himley has been long notedfor its blademills, which impart a peculiar sharpness to edge-tools.
