the wapentake of THURGARTON, county of NOTTINGHAM,
Smiles (N. N. E.) from Southwell, containing 115 inhabitants.
The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry
of Nottingham, and diocese of York, rated in the king's
books at £9. 9. 4., and in the patronage of Admiral
Sotheron. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas.
