HOLCOMBE-ROGUS, a parish in the hundred of
BAMPTON, county of DEVON, 7 miles (E. S. E.) from
Bampton, containing 829 inhabitants. The living is a
discharged vicarage, "in the archdeaconry and diocese
of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £10. 10. 2.
Samuel Wills, Esq. was patron in 1824. The church
is dedicated to All Saints. A weekly market and an
annual fair were formerly held here; and a branch of
the Grand Western canal passes through the parish.
One of the free boys in Ayshford's grammar school at
Uffculme is appointed from this place.
