HOOTON-PAGNELL, a parish comprising the townships of Bilham and Hooton-Pagnell in the northern, and the township of Stotford in the southern, division of the wapentake of STRAFFORTH-AND-TICKHILL, West riding of the county of YORK, and containing 409 inhabitants, of which number, 326 are in the township of Hooton-Pagnell, 7 miles (N.W. by W.) from Doncaster. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £5. 10. 2., endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Governors of Wakefield school. The church is dedicated to All Saints. There is a small endowed school.
