HORFIELD, a parish in the lower division of the
hundred of BERKELEY, county of GLOUCESTER, 2
miles (N.) from Bristol, containing 198 inhabitants.
The living is a perpetual curacy, endowed with £1000
private benefaction, £1200 royal bounty, and £600 parliamentary
grant, and in the peculiar jurisdiction and
patronage of the Bishop of Bristol. In this parish are
stone quarries and some mineral springs.
