HORNINGSHAM, a parish in the hundred of HEYTESBURY, county of WILTS, 4 miles (S. W.) from Warminster, containing 1267 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, endowed with £400 private benefaction, £200 royal bounty, and £2400 parliamentary grant, in the peculiar jurisdiction of the Dean of Salisbury, as Dean of the church of Heytesbury, and in the patronage of the Prebendary of Horningsham in the collegiate church of Heytesbury. The. church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist. There is a place of worship for Independents.
