HORSTEAD, a parish in the hundred of TAVERHAM, county of NORFOLK, 1 mile (W.) from Coltishall, containing, with Staininghall, 492 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £7. 10. The church is dedicated to All Saints. Here was an Alien priory, a cell to the convent of the Holy Trinity at Caen in Normandy, the revenue of which, at the suppression, was appropriated as part of the endowment of King's College, Cambridge.
