HOUGHTON (ST-GILES-in-the-HOLE), a parish in the northern division of the hundred of GREENHOE, county of NORFOLK, half of a mile (S.W.) from Little Walsingham, containing 206 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £8, and endowed with £400 royal bounty. D. H. Lee Warner, Esq. was patron in 1807.
