IPING, a parish in the hundred of EASEBOURNE, rape of CHICHESTER, county of SUSSEX, 2 miles (N. W. by W.) from Midhurst, containing 305 inhabitants. The living is a rectory with Chichurst, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Colchester, rated in the king's books at £7, and in the patronage of the Earl of Egremont. The church is partly in the Norman style of architecture. The river Rother runs through the parish.
