KELFIELD, a township in that part of the parish of STILLINGFLEET which is in the wapentake of OUZE-and-DERWENT, East riding of the county of YORK, 6 miles (N. by W.) from Selby, containing 286 inhabitants. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. A free school was founded by Mrs. Mary Stillingfield, who devised £400 by will, dated in May 1802, to trustees, for the instruction of poor children of this township; the annual income is about £21.6., and twenty children are taught gratuitously.
