KELSTERN, a parish in the Wold division of the wapentake of LOUTH-ESKE, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 5 miles (W.N.W.) from Louth, containing, with the hamlet of Lambcroft, 179 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £6. 11. 10. John Denison, Esq. was patron in 1806! The church is dedicated to St. Faith: in the chancel is a monument erected by Sir Francis South, Knt., to the memory of his wife Elizabeth, who died in 1604, which is curiously ornamented with emblematical figures and inscriptions. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
