KERSWELL (KINGS), a parish in the hundred of HAYTOR, county of DEVON, 2 miles (S. B. by S.) from Newton-Bushel, containing 679 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, with the vicarage of St. Mary Church, in the archdeaconry of Totness, and diocese of Exeter, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Exeter. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Independents, and another for Wesleyan Methodists. A school-house, built by the Rev. A. Hick, is supported by voluntary contributions.
